    2024.20.3 Update Arrived

May not be the normal cadence but I suspect that is what will happen. Just based on my belief they really want to start the March of Nines rather than settle for small improvements over a version that's already pretty good (12.3.6). OG testers of 12.4 are giving mixed reviews. I've had my truck...

CT owners, tell us about the steering wheel

I agree that's comfortable and natural, but I don't do that because of the consequences should the airbag deploy.

CT owners, tell us about the steering wheel

I like it. Works because of the 1 turn lock to lock steer by wire. Main issue is training the left thumb to instinctively hit the proper turn signal. Also must break the habit of glancing at the rear view mirror.

Ordered FS CB, but FS ending…

Ordered 1/12 and took delivery 6/13. Understand from talking with others, I was lucky as they ordered earlier and are still waiting for a VIN. As far as the price goes, I tallied up the value of the Foundation options for me and it just about equals the $20K premium. So no reason for me to...

    Michigan Buyers...

Yesterday, went into Clarkson, signed two documents, handed key cards, on my way. Beast is beastly.

Just received trade in offer - Is CT VIN imminent?

I got the USS waiver to sign, and same day after that the VIN notification.

FSD coming by end of this month (confirms Tesla Cybertruck engineer)! 🤞

Elon said 12.5 for cybertruck. I'd expect at least a month after 12.4 goes wide, which hasn't happened yet.

How often are you washing Cybertruck?

Salt season, I buy a monthly unlimited pass, so the CT will get washed once or twice a week. Otherwise, it's a truck that will get driven on dirt and mud so not fussy about the outside.

Finally got VIN! It was a text message

I got a vin today, the 31st. I got the first notification when I opened the app to check on my other car, flipped to the ct page and the vision system accept form was there. Did that, and next thing was insurance with Cybertruck 92xx.

    1/9 Waiting Room

    1/12 ordered Cyberbeast. RN 11279.

Tesla will change Foundation Series order to Non-FS without penalty (YMMV)

Tesla rep I communicated with said that ordering a FS commits you to a FS, cancel and the $1000 forfeits. I ordered, at my age the future is now.

The Competition: 2024 Silverado EV Reviews Are In

I've seen one in person. It's a beast, for sure. I would say it's a better truck than the Lightning, as it should be since it's a ground up EV design rather than an ICE conversion. I don't care about WT pricing, since I can't buy one as a consumer. And those prices are convoluted by business...

Elon: "I was just reviewing the production beta Cybertruck. It is incredible."

What I know about beta: Dimensionally, it hasn't changed significantly from the intro, and the structure will be megacastings, structural pack, and stainless exoskeleton. 1000V architecture. Quad motor and four wheel steering available. HW 4 4680 cells.

Musk: "Cybertruck pricing and specs will be different, but it will be a damn fine product."

It was obvious to me that the 2019 pricing was out the window, long ago. I'd pay 65 for the dual motor after 7500 rebate, which I think is realistic.

Update from Elon: Cybertruck production starting late 2022 and volume production in 2023

I hedged my bets: Lightning reservation immediately after the reveal, Model Y reservation just made. Order book opens on the Lightning "this fall" so we'll see if can get in the system for a 2022 delivery. The Y is looking like a Feb delivery, since it can tow a decent load, I could get by with...

Cybertruck takeaways from AI Day: coming in about a year & getting upgraded AI hardware for FSD

I'm wondering if the as yet unrevealed Silverado will beat the CT to market. I have a Lightning reservation as a hedge. Order book on that opens this Fall.

Article: Tesla’s Cybertruck delay may have been caused by design finalization

"prototypes are easy, mass production is hard, positive cash flow is excruciating" says the man himself.

    Rear Wheel Steering

If they make it standard equipment, I'd guess it's a teaspoon of sugar to make $10,000 price increase go down. Tesla can still argue it's still cheaper than a Hummer, and cost comparable to the upper trim level Lightnings.

One of the Cybertrucks is with Savage Garage

Indeed, there are pictures of F-150 Lightning prototypes parked on house driveways, besides being on the road. Ford employees doing real world testing. Same with the Hummer, including running the trails around Moab. If the formula is correct, I'm around #50k in the CT queue. Maybe, just maybe I...

Who is eating crow? Final predictions.

I'd say the question for today is what is Tesla going to delete to keep costs down? And do they really log how much the lumbar support on the passenger seat gets used?
