Mr. Ambassador, you have nearly a hundred naval vessels operating in the North Atlantic right now. Your aircraft has dropped enough sonar buoys so that a man could walk from Greenland to Iceland to Scotland without getting his feet wet. Now, shall we dispense with the bull?
My son flies Navy P-8’s, has run many missions dropping buoys in that area, and off Ukraine, southern Med, says the current sonobuoys are 1980’s tech. Batteries run down fast and they have ancient comms tech. Working on a new model that’ll maybe get the U.S. sensors up to flip-phone-era tech. We have the best military, could be way better if a few of the engineers doing FSD or the latest drone tech were involved. Unfortunately, old workhorse military tools aren’t sexy so get short budget attention.

Can certainly add poor relationships with what is the modern day media to the list of poor decisions.
With respect to autonomy though, all I’ve seen thus far from the competition is words.
there literally isn’t a single other car you can type an address into and arrive safely at your destination.
If they had any common sense they wouldn’t have allowed everyone to charge on their network to start with but even now, if they don’t make it prohibitively expensive. Their car business is done because you’re right, it’s only a matter of time before everyone else catches up. It’s hard to keep software knowhow secret.
They say they don’t care if their car business dies though. Maybe so. I bet you the investors who footed the bill to get here still care.
Actually, the latest Mercedes MB.Drive Assist Pro enables the car to navigate city streets, intersections, and traffic from a starting point to a destination.

That’s a Level 2 system like FSD. However, Mercedes has the very first consumer-available Level 3 system called DRIVE PILOT and is restricted to specific highway traffic scenarios (heavy traffic, up to 95 km/h in some regions). In this mode, the driver can take their eyes off the road (e.g., watch a movie). It currently only works in CA, NV and Germany. It’s certainly not FSD, but is eye-and-hands-off in some driving.

Apparently Drive Assist Pro will also valet park a Mercedes with no driver, a function not yet available in our cars.

I used to like watching Doug Demuron's videos. Then that squeaky voice got more and more grating. I would however pay to see him and conehead jerryrigeverything in an MMA match.

I wonder if they improved the R2's suspension design. The R1S/R1T ride horribly.

I'm with you but those 2 bone heads would run away from a MMA fight, but would easily sign up for a oil wrestling opportunity.

I can't stand Demuro's voice. He acts like he's always on cocaine. His earliest videos covering his life as a normal guy owning a used Ferrari were interesting, but it's been downhill since. All YouTubers become clickbaiters when they hit a million subscribers.
