No, it isn't. Because dealers have to get approval from the manufacturer before it's covered under warranty.This is the one thing that makes dealers better. No way a dealer is going to tell you to F off, it's not our problem 30 minutes after delivery. Dealers at least are incentived to fix it and get reimbursed from the manufacturer.
I've actually found Tesla to be FAR more generous with warranty work than the five other brands of cars I've had. Volvo was one of the stingiest, Ford always pretended they couldn't find the leak, Mazda and VW both tried to charge me for stuff they didn't even do.
Most dealerships suck, and the fact they have a manufacturer behind them backing the warranty doesn't change that. Legacy manufacturers will deny warranty claims too, when they think it's user error.
